Their adoption process
We aren't first come, first served, rather our dogs are matched with the best person or family for them. We do not do same day adoptions as there are multiple steps to our adoption process.
Adoption steps
- Submit Application
- Adoption application can be found on mirishaven.org
- Interview
- A volunteer will call you to complete the interview and check references (vet and personal).
- Approve Application
- Meet the Pet
- After application approval a meet and greet can be scheduled. If the meet goes well, the dog can go home with their new family.

Miri’s Haven is an all-volunteer, foster-based 501c3 senior dog rescue dedicated to the rescue, care, and adoption of senior dogs into loving, forever homes throughout the DC Metro area and surrounding areas. We are run entirely by dedicated volunteers and do not receive any public funding. Funding is derived entirely from fundraising and donations offered by individuals and local organizations who believe in our mission.
