My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PLEASE READ - While we can begin taking applications for these pups, due to their age, the earliest the puppies will be able to go to their new homes will be Saturday, 10/23/2010. If you would like to submit an application, click on this link. Adoption Application
Arrival Story: The young owners of Abby, the mother, surrendered her to our rescue when they were moving and decided they could not take care of her and a litter of pups.

Abby, their mother, is a Rottweiler mix and about 70 lbs. These pups, based on their looks, appear to be mixed with lab or shepherd or both. They are a Heinz 57 variety for sure!

Personality Description: These are typical little puppies who like to eat, sleep and play and love being with people.

Ideal Forever Home: A home that realizes that little puppies need lots of attention and socialization at this age so they can grow into well mannered and social adult dogs. Having a puppy is very much like having a 2 year old child and does require time and patience but the end result is very much worth the work.

Puppies have little pin teeth and by nature, explore everything with their mouths so if you currently have childen under the age of 5, you need to carefully consider whether a little puppy that does not know any better is a good fit for your family. Puppies dig, chew and are constantly on the go.

Because they cannot hold their potty all day long at this age, they will need a home where someone is home more or where someone can come home and let the puppy out for potty/play breaks during the day.

ADOPTION PROCESS - Our process involves all applicants first completing a pre-adoption application which gives us more information on the applicant, their family and their lifestyle. This helps us determine if the applicant is a good match for the pet they are trying to adopt. Download our application at this link: Adoption Application

With any litter of puppies there are always one or two pups that everyone seems to want so we ask that when you are completing your application, that you indicate a 1st, 2nd & 3rd choice (in order of preference) so that in the event your 1st choice is chosen to go with another family that we know which other puppies you are interested in.

Puppies cannot be left alone for 8-10 hours day so if you have a lifestyle where you are gone for stretches of 4-5 hours per day, make sure you explain on your application how you plan on addressing getting the puppy their potty break and playtime which they will need while you are gone.

If your application has been deemed as a good fit for a puppy, we will arrange a time to come to your home. Because of the puppies ages, these home visits are typically done without the animal coming to your home because they are still in quarantine. The home visit allows our volunteer(s) to see where the pet will be living and allows the person/family to ask questions and seek further information. Typically, the visit lasts 20-30 minutes depending on questions you may have. Since our volunteers work full time jobs, our visits are normally scheduled for week nights or weekends. We ask that all family members be present for the visit.

Adoption Fee: Their adoption fee will be $250 and includes age appropriate vaccines, deworming, microchip. This fee also includes the cost of their spay/neuter as long as they are taken to once of our participating vets (located in Warren, Sterling Heights, Romeo, Chesterfield Twp and Canton) when they are old enough. Adopters have the choice to take their puppy to their vet for spay/neuter but at the adopters cost. Whether at our vet or yours, the spaying/ neutering of these puppies is mandatory by six months of age and will be tracked
