My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Scooter! This brave little adventurer is a gray-and-white tabby dynamo powered by determination and pure kitten joy. Aptly named, Scooter was born with deformed hind legs so he relies solely on his strong front legs to get around - but he’s never let that slow him down! He zooms through the house like a tiny rocket, especially during his favorite zoomie hours (9–10 p.m., with possible bonus rounds at 1–2 a.m.). His adorable chirp of a meow announces his presence as he zips by in search of toys, friends, and scritches.

Scooter is affectionate, opinionated, and unafraid to speak his mind - especially when he’s craving attention. He loves being pet, but he’s got some clear preferences: pets and scratches are great, but please don’t touch his lower back or hind legs. He’ll be sure to let you know if you overstep, so an adopter who respects his boundaries is a must. Despite his quirks, Scooter is endlessly outgoing. He’ll greet guests, charm the room, and demand his rightful share of the spotlight. He is fantastic with kids, cats, dogs, even parrots - and would thrive in an active, bustling household. He would however appreciate it if any kids in his future household were a bit older and understand his boundaries. He gets along fabulously with the two teenagers (thirteen and fifteen) in his foster home and they bathe him every week.

Because of his mobility differences, Scooter has a few special needs. He uses the litter box reliably but can get a bit messy due to balance issues, so he’ll need weekly baths or sponge baths which he tolerates very well. A shallow litter box placed near his usual hangout area helps make life easier for him. He also can’t jump, so pet stairs or ramps will help him access beds and couches. But rest assured, Scooter is independent, capable, and so much more than his disability - he’s a fighter with a heart full of love.

Scooter gets along beautifully with other cats and must be adopted into a home with a feline companion who will play and keep him company. His energy is typical kitten chaos, and he especially enjoys chasing other cats, batting toys under doors, and zooming after catnip mice. One of his favorite things is going on stroller rides in the sunshine - he truly enjoys life to the fullest.

Scooter has come so far and continues to thrive with the support of people who believe in him. He’s affectionate, funny, full of personality, and ready to be someone’s best friend. He doesn’t see himself as different, and neither should you. This special little guy is looking for a home that will love him exactly as he is - because Scooter is nothing short of amazing.

Additional adoption info

Thank you for your interest in Forever Fortunate Felines.  We are very happy to have the opportunity to match you with your purr-fect cat-panion!

Once you complete the online application using the below link, you will be able to discuss and ask questions directly to the foster parent.  We believe this is a big advantage to you as our organization is completely foster based, we really understand our cats personalities at a deep level.  This helps to ensure a great match with you and your family.

In order to get the process going, would you kindly fill out our detailed online application located here:
http://www.foreverfortunatefelines.org/adopt

Completing our online application does not commit you to adopt from our rescue.  Rather it helps us to understand your requirements and match you with the best possible cat or kitten.

Once you complete the application and it is approved, we can set up a meet and greet and if all works out, you may bring the kittens or cats home the same day.  Please make sure to bring an adequately sized pet carrier with you to your meet and greet.  We recommend a pet carrier which opens from the top as this is the easiest way to place a cat inside a carrier.  If you do decide to adopt, we do expect you to take home your cat the same day as there are so many cats and kittens which need to be rescued from high kill shelters, we almost always rescue a new cat or kitten the very next day.  If it is not possible for you to take your cat or kitten home the same day, we do charge a boarding fee of $10 per day for supplies and to encourage you to take your newly adopted cat home.  We will board for a maximum of 3 days if needed to allow you time to get needed supplies.

Our adoption fees are listed at the link below. This fee includes full vetting, flea treatment, de-worming, spay surgery, FeLV and FIV test, microchip insertion, and vaccinations up to date for the kittens or cats age.  We are able to PayPal or most major credit cards for the adoption fee.

We have streamlined our adoption process to make it easy!  Everything from the application, to payment, to the contract is online.  Additionally, all of the cats records will be placed in your free Petlovers account at petstablished.com to keep organized.
