My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Winnie is a 2-year-old black and tan Doberman whose human mom had to move to take care of her own mom so she gave Winnie to her son. Her son was military and, unfortunately, he had to go overseas, so he gave Winnie to DRNV. Prior to her spay, we discovered her copper level is elevated, so first we need to place Winnie with a foster for four months while we treat the elevated enzyme with a special medicine to flush the copper and reset her baseline. She will need special copper-free food and a few supplements. Winnie is a very sweet girl who is a little reserved at first but then loves to play and cuddle and gets along with other dogs. By discovering and treating this elevated enzyme so early, Winnie is expected to live a very normal life.

More about this rescue

Doberman Rescue of Nevada is dedicated to saving the lives of Doberman Pinschers in need. Headquartered in Las Vegas, we work with individuals and humane organizations to rescue and place Doberman Pinschers into appropriate loving homes. While we love all dogs, our mission is the Doberman Pinscher and its welfare. We work to save Dobermans one at a time. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered and available for adoption for a nominal fee. Our volunteers include some of the most experienced Doberman rescuers in the country as well as those who are new to the effort. What we all share is a passion, love and dedication to the Doberman. Our leaders and volunteers are also involved in activities of the Doberman Pinscher Club of America, Special Needs Dobermans and the Senior Doberman Project. While this organization is new, over the years our volunteers have helped rescue and place hundreds of our chosen breed of beloved dogs. Dobermans are bright, loving, playful dogs that are often described as a "Velcro" breed because of their habit of literally leaning on and wanting to touch their humans.
