Adoption steps

  1. Meet the Pet
    1. Find an animal that fits you and apply. Need help matching with an animal, fill out an application and let us help you.
  2. Submit Application
    1. Use the links under Additional Adoption Info to apply for a dog or cat.
  3. Interview
    1. HART associates will interview you at one of the dog or cat Adoption Events.
  4. Home Check
    1. Virtual home and vet check
  5. Sign Adoption Contract
    1. At the time of placement, you must complete an adoption contract.
  6. Pay Fee
  7. Take the Pet Home

Dog events take place every Saturday at the Petsmart in Chantilly from 12:00pm to 3:00pm

Cat events take place every Sunday at the Petsmart in Sterling from 12:00pm to 3:00pm
