My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This playful and energetic cutie is Panda! Panda is a Sheltie/Border Collie mix, so if you like both breeds and enjoy training or dog sports, she may be a great companion for you!

AGE: 1 year
SIZE: 20 lbs.
TEMPERAMENT: Panda is a very sweet girl who loves people and other dogs. She's crazy about toys and always carries a toy in her mouth. She's a very happy, busy, playful girl, who will amuse you with her antics!
FENCE: A secure physical fence (wood or chain link) is required. Panda likes to play “catch me if you can”! She does well with recall on leash, not so off leash. She always has her nose to the ground following some sort of scent. She is fascinated with birds and will chase them.
DOGS: Panda should go to a home with a playful canine companion. She gets along well with the other Shelties in her foster home and likes to play non-stop. Panda adjusts her play style to match that of the other dog.
KIDS: Panda loves older kids and teens. She has not lived with young children. She might be a fun dog for a teen who would like to be active in training.
CATS: Panda is curious and wants to play with them. She will chase(herd) them if given the chance.
HOUSETRAINED: Yes.
CRATE-TRAINED: Yes. Panda should be crated when her adopter is not at home for her safety, as she will find “something” to keep herself busy.
CAR RIDES: Panda rides well in a crate in the car.
OBEDIENCE TRAINING: Panda is very smart and learns new skills quickly, which makes it fun to train her. Panda completed a beginner obedience class while in rescue, is learning clicker training and has good focus during training. She is currently enrolled in a beginner agility class, which she loves! She has no fear of the equipment, taking to it with ease and lots of speed. She needs a home that will continue her training.
LEASH MANNERS: Panda's adopter will need to work with her on heeling, since Panda is more focused on everything going on around her.
ACTIVITY LEVEL: High. Panda has lots of energy, and wants to play, play, play. If she doesn't have something to keep her busy, she will create her own job (like most Border Collies would). She's also still young, so is a bit mischievous at times.
BARKING: Panda is vocal but responds to gentle correction.
HEALTH ISSUES: No known health issues.

If you are looking for a fun training partner and a playmate for your dog, Panda is just the girl for you! Panda is fostered in the Fargo, ND area.

For more information on our adoption process (which includes an application, references and a home visit prior to meeting dogs) or to see other Shelties available for adoption, please visit our website at www.mnsheltierescue.org, or contact us for the adoption application. Panda's adoption fee is $300.00, and she is spayed, current on vaccinations, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative (during heartworm season), microchipped, has been bathed and brushed, etc. All of our dogs are indoor dogs and are not to be left outside unattended (not even in a fenced yard, if the adopter is not at home).
