My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

House trained: Yes Energy level: Medium Noise level: Barks occasionally My foster guardian says: My favorite thing about Murphy are all his silly antics! Likes: hiking, riding in the car, playing fetch, playing with other dogs   Hi there! Im Murphy! Im a happy, gentle boy who loves playing, going for walks, snuggling on the couch (dontworry, I always ask first!), and watching the world go by from the window. My story started when I showed up outside my foster familys door pretty smart move, right? My human foster brother named me Murphy, as in Murphys Law, because my luck wasnt so great before I met my foster family. I was abandoned and lived on the streets of D.C. for a while. If youve seen the rats weve got in this city, youll know that wasnt exactly a picnic. No one really knows what my life was like before my foster family found me, but I can tell you it was sad and scary to be all alone, and Im so grateful that my foster family found me. Now, Im moving past the hard days, and ready to live life to the fullest! For everything Ive been through, Im an amazingly resilient guy! My foster family says Im very sweet, smart, social, and adaptable. I currently live with my two doggy foster siblings, and I love being part of a pack! We play together all day long, and have the most fun ever! I also love playing with my human foster brother! I keep everybody laughing with my hilarious funny air chomp noises when I play my signature move! My foster family thinks I would be great as an only child, or living with human siblings. Basically, Ill blossom wherever Im planted! I can be a little shy when meeting new people, but I warm up fast and then Im super friendly. Im quite loyal, so if youre part of my pack, Ive got your back. And by got your back I mean Ill follow you around the house and make sure youre never lonely. If an actual threat ever shows up, like someone riding on a bicyclewell, Im sure you can handle that! Im more cuddlebug than guard dog, but thats just what youre looking for, right? As attached as I am to my people, Im also amazing in my crate, and do a great job sleeping in there when my people leave me home alone. Im a really well-mannered boy all together. Im also a smarty pants! I love snacks, and Im a super intelligent and trainable dog. I already know sit and down and shake, Im working on stay, and Im excited to learn more! Murphys law might have applied to me earlier in life, but things are on the up and up now, and I cant wait to move forward and find my forever family! Think we might be a match? Additional adoption info

Adoption area is Washington, D.C area, including Northern Virginia and Maryland. All adoptions require a completed adoption application. Our adoption coordinators will contact you soon after reviewing the application. Our adoption fee is $450 to help off set the costs of rescuing dogs in need. All dogs go to their new homes spayed or neutered, up to date on all shots, wormed (although a 2nd worming may be required), started on heart worm and flea and tick preventative and sometimes microchipped.

Although we try to be as accurate as possible, Rural Dog Rescue cannot guarantee the breed or full-grown adult size of any of the dogs or puppies in its care. Because many of these dogs were found as strays or are the result of irresponsible, unplanned breeding, we do not know the dog's exact background and can only list breed and size by our best educated guess. If exact breed and size are important to you, please consider adopting a dog from a specific breed rescue. We want our dogs to be adopted by people who will love and care for them forever for who they are - no matter what breed and size they turn out to be!
