Hi, my name is Ethel! I came to Angels of Assisi with over forty dogs from a hoarding situation in West Virginia, where I experienced severe neglect and hardship. My background has made it hard for me to trust humans, but I have made great progress in the time I have been at Angels thanks to the hard work of staff and volunteers. I am still pretty skittish and hesitant about being touched, but I like to go on walks with my trusted humans, especially in the company of my favorite dogs.
Because of my background, I require multiple meet-and-greets with potential adopters to make sure that the home is the best fit for me. This also gives you more chances to get to know me and for me to warm up to you! I would do best in a calm home without children or cats.
With some time and patience, I can show you all that I have to offer. Come meet me at Angels of Assisi!

Find the pet for you at the Adoption Center:
Angels of Assisi’s adoption center is open from 12-6pm, 7 days a week. Adoption Specialists and Volunteer Ambassadors are eager to help you find the pet that would fit best in your family.
Adoptable Pets in Foster Homes:
Some of our available pets are currently in foster homes. If an animal is currently in a foster home, it is noted in the animal's biography online. To meet a pet in foster care, please fill out a non-binding adoption application, and the foster parent will contact you to schedule a meet and greet once the application has been approved (generally within 24 hours).
Found the perfect addition to your family? Now what?
The next step is to fill out an adoption application. You can complete and application online (preferred) or stop by the adoption center to fill out a paper application. Adopters must be 18 years of age or older. If you rent your home, we will need to contact your landlord or see a copy of your lease to verify the pet policy. Most applications can be approved within 24-48 hours.
Taking Your New Pet Home
After paying the adoption fee and pending the approval of your application, you may take your new pet home immediately. Adoption fees may vary and can be found on our website at:
