My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Stevie Licks! Stevie is a striking Pitsky (Pitbull/Husky mix) with soulful eyes that could stare straight into your heart. Don’t be fooled by her intense gaze—behind that “serious” look is a goofy, affectionate pup who lives up to her rockstar name. Stevie came to us with some big feelings about the world, but she’s been working hard in training and blossoming every step of the way. She’s smart, eager to learn, and already well on her way to mastering advanced obedience and confidence-building skills. With her mix of husky brains and pitty love, Stevie is equal parts determined and cuddly—a loyal companion who wants nothing more than to be your sidekick through life’s adventures. She’d thrive in a home that will continue her training (training included with her adoption), keep her mind busy, and celebrate all her wins. Stevie does best with structure, patience, and people who understand that growth takes time—but the reward is a dog who will give you her whole heart. If you’re looking for a dog who is as beautiful as she is bright, and as silly as she is soulful, Stevie Licks is ready to sing her way into your life.September 18, 2025, 11:57 pm

Additional adoption info

If we are adopting out a dog who has been trained the adopter must agree to one training session the day they adopt the dog (coming home). If we decide additional training sessions will be needed we will advise the adopter prior to adoption.

More about this rescue

We are a veteran-run dog rescue based in San Diego, California. Our goal is to change the rescue world. We adopt our dogs to any loving and qualified homes, but we also provide ESAs for military veterans. With The Heroic Tail’s model, we are not only able to rescue dogs from high-kill shelters who happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, but we are also able to help the dogs deemed “unadoptable” and give them a better chance at a happy and healthy life!
