Their adoption process
First we speak to a potential adopter and find out which cat they are interested in or what type, age, sex and personality cat they are looking for. We also ask about other pets and people in the home (ie, children, older pets, dogs, etc) If it sounds like the cat they are interested in (or another one of our cats) is a good fit, we then email them an adoption form. Once received we call them back to review the application and address any concerns on the application. We also want the potential adopter to ask US any questions!
Our fees are approx $100 to $120 per cat; $180 for a pair. With cats we think would be especially good for seniors, we offer a discount fee of $80. These adoption fees include all medical (spay.neuter, vaccines, microchip, flea treatment; vet visit and treatment if it was necessary). We also send people home with starter food, toys, litter boxes and other supplies they might need.
Our requirements will be indicated by questions asked on the adoption application and discussed more when we speak by phone.

Our cats are seen at our home based sanctuary on an appt. only basis. This is located in San Clemente CA (South Orange County). Please call us at 949-361-6630 or email us at healinghopecs@att.net. After we have our initial conversation by phone, we then usually set up this appt time for you to meet the cat(s).
More about this rescue
We are a small, private not for profit sanctuary that for the most part specializes in taking in special needs cats. We usually only have 3 or 4 cats available for adoption.
One of the special things that HHCS offers is a "Foster to Adopt" program. Meaning if the person or family have any concerns about how one of our cats will fit in with their home or get along with another cats, we urge them to do a month long, foster to adopt. We provide them with food, litter, etc and keep in touch for a month. .. . give advice needed for introducing cats, or helping a shy cat. If all goes well, then after a month, we sign formal adoption papers.
We also do have cats available for both short and long term foster. This is a win win situation for many people (and the cats, too!) as people who may not have great finances are allowed to have a pet, while we pay for the food and medical care. Of course, the goal is always to place the cat in a permanent home but foster homes help us see how a cat does when it is away from so many other cats! It also allows a newly rescued cat to make socialization progress because it gets more one on one attention in the foster home.. .. so it better prepares them for a permanent home adoption!
We are a cageless facility that is run from a private home. We never euthanize for reasons of space. IN fact the only time we even euthanize is when an animal is very ill and there is no hope for recovery.
HHCS founder, Kim Rockshaw has been rescuing cats for almost 30 years.She brings her extensive training in both allopathic and holistic medicine to help many of the cats at the sanctuary. We also do a great deal of work in our community working with feral cats (TNR) and stray cats that are abandoned on our streets.
