Take the Pet Home
This helps Loved At Last Dog Rescue with pet care costs.
My name is TUNDRA (Tiara) and here is a little info about me:
Breed: Husky mix
Age: 6 yrs
Gender: female
Weight: 23 kg
Country of origin: Saudi Arabia
Highlight(s): very calm, friendly, loving, resilient, intelligent, loyal
Now don't be shocked, but my rescuers say I am a calm girl. Yah, a calm husky. Amazing, hunh? I am, unlike my husky heritage, not very vocal at all and rarely bark.
Found wandering the streets of in May/June, where temperatures often exceeded 107 degrees, my rescuers quickly saved me. Local workers mentioned seeing me roaming for over a month. When my rescuers first saw me, I was in very poor condition—pus discharge, strong odor, and extreme distress. A veterinarian diagnosed me with TVT (Transmissible Venereal Tumor) along with a large tumor affecting my bladder, which caused difficulty urinating and vomiting water. I underwent emergency surgery to remove the tumor, followed by six chemotherapy sessions to ensure all abnormal cells were eliminated. Recent blood work, X-rays, and follow-up tests confirm, I she am now completely TVT-free and in good health. Yeah. Medical records are available.
My rescuers believe I was abandoned by previous owners once I became ill, given my poor state and signs of neglect. I also had evidence of past abuse: a hematoma in one ear, a bit of my tongue cut, and broken canine teeth. I was initially anxious and would flinch when touched, but have gained much confidence since. Despite my history, I have shown remarkable resilience and trust.
The heat here in my country is unbearable for a northern breed dog. They have to walk me at 4 AM to avoid the tremendous heat of almost 110 degrees lately. It is so distressing for me to endure.
Being so intelligent, I learned many commands in just a couple days. Are you interested in doing trick dog fun with a kennel club? If so, I'm yer gal. Or maybe scent work is more up your alley. I'm game for that too. Oh, or water sports, I'd love to play in cool water.
Please note I am very friendly and affectionate with humans, to include gentle and patient with children, awaiting video proof. I am also social and playful with other dogs. Depending on the kitty, I am tolerant around cats and can walk alongside them peacefully. I am also house and leash trained... score!
I appear to be experiencing some food allergies: chicken and beef (currently being fed cooked duck/salmon with rice/vegetables; refuse most dry food despite trials of Royal Canin Hypoallergenic and Hill’s N/D) I am a VERY PICKY EATER. Good appetite when it comes to human spiced food, just not dog food. I was likely fed human food in my previous home.
I would love to come to amazing Canada where I could experience the true north my breed was bred to love. Bet I'd love the beaches/lakes there.
If I could find a family willing to provide me with some walks and lots of love, I'd be an avid, loyal buddy for you. You will love my ears too, 1 pricked up and 1 flopped over. So cute, I'm told.
Energy Level: moderate to low (this may come up a bit once in a cooler environment)
I get along with:
Dogs: yes, await video
Cats: unknown, rescuer states yes, await video
Kids: unknown, rescuer states yes, await video
Fears: none observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.
Training: Sit, paw, etc... learned in mere days
Leash skills: yes. Please be prepared to continue training.
House trained: yes. Please help me learn where to go in my new home.
Health notes: Past TVT/tumor - now totally cancer free, broken canine teeth.
I have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
My adoption fee is $750.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver.
Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.
Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.
Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.
Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.
The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.
Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live.
While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. You will NOT be asked to pay a passenger fee on top of the cargo fee.
[MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.
[TURKEY] Dogs from Turkey receive a 4D SNAP test to include Leishmania, Heartworm, Ehrlichia, & Anaplasma, as well as Giardia, Parvo, Corona & Distemper.

As adopters of overseas dogs will be taking their dog home from the airport, they have a couple of weeks to decide if the dog is a fit.
