My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

TUGBOAT was found on a local property living with her sibling (Canoe) and two other litters and she’s now looking for her forever home. She’s spayed, had her 2 sets of vaccines including a rabies shot, Revolution, a microchip and been deemed a healthy girl by the vet. Don’t let her shy nature fool you as this little girl has a big personality and it shows once she gets to know you. She may have taken the longest to come around to wanting to be with her human but she’ll now let herself be picked up but it’s always on her terms. She enjoys playing with her kitty toys and to hang out in the cat tree and has been known to take a snooze on there too.

TUGBOAT has used the litter box since day one in foster care as she’s such a smart little girl. She loves to eat both kibble and wet food, have her water nice and cold plus she loves Temptations treats and Churu tube treats. She’s in a foster home with a large dog so she would suit a home with one as long as the dog is cat savvy and as always we recommend a slow, monitored introduction be made between them whist the dog is kept leashed. She’s very social with the cat in her foster home so she would best suit being with a confident cat in her new home or even being adopted with Galleon, whom she’s been in foster care for the past few months. Children should be aged 6 plus and be gentle, loving and caring towards animals.
If TUGBOAT sounds like she would fit into your home then please put in an adoption application to meet her.

Additional adoption info

Dogs: $750 (as of March 2024)
Cats: $250
The adoption process involves a brief application for the pet you are interested in. We will review your application and if you appear to be a good match for the pet, we will contact you for a phone interview. If that is successful we then do a vet reference check. If all goes well we will then set up a meet and greet for you and anyone else living in the home including any resident dogs with the pet. We then ask you to go home and contemplate your decision on adopting the pet and let us know your decision within 24hrs of meeting the pet. If applicable we will then move forward with the adoption at a mutually agreed upon time.

Go meet their pets

We only set up meet and greets with our animals once an adoption application has been submitted. We do occasionally have meet and greets with our animals at Global Pet Foods in the Barrie area.

You can check out the available pets on our rescuegroups website or on our rescue Facebook page.

More about this rescue

We’re a small rescue with a big mission to save animals in our Northern communities, local Pounds and owner surrenders (under certain circumstances.) We’re located in Barrie, Ontario and we serve the area of Simcoe County and within a two hour radius of the Barrie area.
Our intakes are placed in loving foster homes until they’re assessed, vetted including vaccines, microchip and a spay/neuter (if over 6 months of age) before they leave the rescue to be adopted. Female puppies are spayed at 6 months of age and males 8 months of age.)
We’re always looking for additional foster homes as we can only do intakes if we have foster homes for them to go into.
