My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cherry - female, spayed, vet checked, vaccinated to date inclu Rabies, dewormed, heartworm tested (-), tx flea preventative, ~4-5yr, ~14lbs, Chihuahua.

Cherry is a rescue from a high volume, high kill shelter. Her owners left her there when they could no longer care for her. Typically dogs left by their owner are euthanized immediately however Cherry was such a sweet heart arrangements were made for her to come in to rescue with 4 Legged Love.

Cherry is a fantastic Chihuahua, she has a great peppy attitude, she is not yappy or snappy. Cherry is full of charm and character without the negative qualities typical of Chis. She likes to “talk” to you when she is excited and rarely barks otherwise unless someone is at the door or she needs to go out to do her business. Cherry isn’t a tiny “purse dog” but she is still small enough to be carried or be content in an apartment. She is house trained and crate trained, she is comfortable in her crate and is crated when left alone, she is clean, quiet and nondestructive when left alone given free roam. Cherry gets along really well with other dogs of all sizes – she is currently in a foster home with two large dogs - though she doesn’t really like to play much she does enjoy the company of other dogs, she pays no attention to cats and would be fine with respectful children who do not “maul” and pester her. Cherry is currently living with 3 children and is doing well, she usually sleeps with one of the kids at night. She doesn’t mind the traffic of the kids when visitors come over either. She’d be a good companion dog for another canine or fine on her own. Cherry likes to be picked up and cuddled, she likes to be brushed and doesn’t mind being touched any where including her feet, ears and tummy. She sleeps under the covers at night, usually in the kids bed and would love to have someone to cuddle with on the cold nights ahead. She likes a nice walk each day but isn’t a fan of the cold so she needs a sweater and prefers shorter walks heading in to winter. Cherry is a very social little lady and would make a great buddy to take to work if you workplace is pet friendly or join you on daily errands, she is also good in the car and likes to go for car ride. Cherry needs a little work on basic obedience but is nicely mannered and could get along without the lessons, she would also likely be fine off leash after she has had a few months (at least 6months) to bond with her new family. She is suitable for a house with a yard or an apartment.
