My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Phantom!
This handsome black-and-white rooster is looking for his forever home! Phantom isn’t just stunning to look at – with his bold feathers and proud stance, he’s sure to be the star of any flock.
Phantom would love a safe, loving home where he can strut his stuff and watch over his hens. He’s a gentleman with plenty of personality and charm!

More about this rescue

Barker’s Feathered Friends Sanctuary began with a single, unexpected rescue. One abandoned rooster, left to fend for himself, changed everything. Cold, scared, and hungry—he was tossed aside like trash. But when he looked up with those pleading eyes, we couldn’t walk away.

That one act of kindness turned into a calling.

More birds came. Dumped ducks in parks, hens abandoned after they stopped laying, roosters no one wanted because they couldn’t lay at all. We saw their worth when no one else did. We gave them names, not numbers. Love, not labels. A second chance, not a sentence.

What started in a backyard became a sanctuary—built on compassion, run by family, and supported by people who believe every life matters. We opened our hearts and our home to birds that had nowhere else to go. Some came broken, scared, or sick. Others arrived curious and full of hope. All left their mark on our hearts.

Each bird here has a story. A reason they came. A reason they stayed. And now, a reason they thrive.

Barker’s Feathered Friends Sanctuary is not just a safe place for birds—it’s a place of healing, for them and for us. It’s a reminder that even the smallest creatures deserve love, dignity, and a place to call home.

This is more than a sanctuary. It’s a promise that no feathered friend will ever be forgotten again.
