My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chica Bonita: 2 yr old black & tan female, spayed, undocked tail and uncropped ears. 9", 9 lb. Shots up-to-date. Rescued from shelter.
Chica Bonita is a sweet, submissive, cuddly little pinner with a small and delicate build. She was believed to be suffering from poor nutrition since birth: severely underweight; muscle, bone and hair growth & development were poor. Her back legs were so weak she was examined for car injury, and she was light heartworm positive. Chica has been on top quality dog food since Aug 4, has grown and put on controlled weight for her bone structure, and strengthened considerably - she now romps and plays and springs up onto the couch and bed like all the other pinners! She has a svelte and sleek figure, her coat has fully grown in and is a soft silky black and tan. Heartworm was light and treated successfully without side effects. Chica does have a grade 2 luxating patella in her right hind leg, which is hereditary. As long as her weight is controlled, this should not worsen and she will be able to live the happy active life she is living now. You wouldn't know it, she no longer displays any symptoms.
Chica is a calm, confident little girl and stands up for herself with other dogs. She remains submissive for people, going "boneless" when you reach for her. She loves to lie flat on your chest, get some lovin' then spring off to play with toys. She prefers to sleep under the covers, and dislikes being crated, although she is crate-trained. Her housetraining is coming along on a schedule, but she does not yet know to communicate when she needs to go out. Her quiet submissiveness may be a factor. We are training her with a Christmas bell on the back door!
The shelter believed her condition was too far gone and was going to put her down without rescue. She has come back with courage and a strong will to live. She is a bone-deep genuinely sweet girl. She is loyal and all she wants is to quietly be around you (and your feet!). Will you continue her 2nd chance at life with a forever home, without small children that could accidently hurt her? Contact her foster mom!
Note: Chica Bonita is located in Charlotte NC - and we will not fly this girl.
