Dear Santa, Hi… it’s me, Chase. I’m writing from my little spot at the shelter. Even though I`m only seven months old, I`m a little shy and scared at first. But, I promise, I’m a very good boy. I may not be the loudest or the most outgoing dog at the shelter, but I’ve got a big heart, and once I get to know you, I get so excited that my tail wiggles like crazy. Sometimes I don`t even know what to do with myslef when I see the people I`ve gotten to know because I`m just so happy to see them. Oh and I’m really soft too — like, super soft. Everyone says I have the softest fur they’ve ever felt, and I love all of the attention I get (because I definitely don`t stay shy!). I may not have a family yet, but I still try my best to be brave every day. Sometimes, I’m nervous, but I know that if I stay patient, I’ll find the perfect family who will love me forever. I will play and run around, wagging my tail the entire time. Santa, I really do love people, and kids, but I need a little extra time to feel safe around them first. Once I do, I’ll happily play fetch, zoom around the yard, or curl up right beside them. I just need a home where things aren’t too chaotic — a place where I can learn, relax, and be my playful self without getting overwhelmed. I dream of a family who understands that shy pups like me bloom slowly, but beautifully. Someone patient, kind, and excited to see me just as much as I’ll be excited to see them. I promise I’ll be the softest cuddle buddy, the happiest playmate, and the most loyal friend they could ask for. I’ll show them how much I love them every day. Thank you for listening, Santa. Lakeland Animal Shelter is centrally located three miles south of Elkhorn, WI. on highway 67, and it is the only animal shelter in Walworth County. Its doors are open to the public six days a week except on legal holidays. The shelter is staffed by dedicated and trained employees. Volunteers also play a crucial role in meeting many of the shelter's special care needs.
Provide temporary care for stray, abandoned and unwanted animals.
Own and operate a rescue vehicle to pick up stray pets from municipal holding areas and private citizens.
Respond to injured animal emergencies 24 hours a day.
Employ a humane Officer to investigate cruelty and abuse complaints.
Maintain records on lost and found pets
Have available humane live traps for animals requiring capture.
Seek good homes for pet adoptions.
Provide a resource library.
