My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gracie is a beautiful 1 year-old, 36-pound sweetheart who’s the perfect mix of playful and calm. She loves to romp around the yard and get her zoomies out, but she’s just as happy to curl up on the couch for some snuggle time afterward.

Gracie walks well on a leash—unless she spots a squirrel! She plays hard and may do best with dogs her size or larger, though she does fine simply coexisting with smaller pups in the home. Cats, however, are not her favorite—she’ll try to chase them.

This smart girl is already learning commands like “sit” and listens well. Despite being very underweight when rescued from the shelter, she’s shown no signs of food aggression and is motivated by treats, making her eager to learn more. She’s had only one accident in the house, is quiet and well-mannered, and is fully crate trained.

Gracie hasn’t chewed up her toys or blankets, though she loves her deerhorn bone! She’s still figuring out what toys are for, but she’s having fun learning. Above all, Gracie is loving, gentle, and enjoys being close to her people.

If you’re looking for a sweet, easygoing companion with a little spark of fun—Gracie may just be your girl! Apply at bcaaofnj.org

Submitting an application is always our first step - it's free to apply! bcaaofnj.org

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process starts with the applicant filling out an adoption application for the pet they are interested in. When they have completed and submitted the application, the screening process is started, which consists of a vet check, phone interview and home visit. Once all the steps are completed, we determine, by our findings, if they are approved, and if so, then they are allowed to adopt from our organization. The final step is they must complete the adoption contract, along with the donation for the animal, which goes into our medical fund to defray their medical costs. All of our animals are spayed and neutered, up to date on all their shots, including rabies, they are parasite free and on heartworm preventative.
