My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Stealing from the darkness, you might think to yourself, “is that a shadow?” Good guess, but it’s in fact an adorable sable senior terrier mix, Murph! His silky black locks enable him to melt into the blackness, so this midnight mutt might be hard to see at night; but not to worry, he’s a little bit of a skittish senior who will stick to your side as if you’re his emotional support person. While wary at first, when Murph warms up to you, there’s not a better feeling in the world. His affection and love will fill you with warm fuzzies, and you will never find a more loyal companion. Can you make Murph’s dreams of a forever family come true?

Here's some notes from his foster:

Murph is a gentle and timid soul who is so full of love--he's just learning how to share it. Murph was found as a stray--the outside world is still a very overwhelming and scary place for him to be, he is most comfortable inside where everything feels safe and predictable.

Once Murph is feeling safe, he becomes very affectionate and will always be right by your side looking for some extra pets. We work daily on spending time outside, with some gentle encouragement and the help of treats we are making progress.

Murph is potty trained- he is willing to go if taken outside- and would prefer to use potty pads if I let him. He has met a few kids but instead of interacting, he prefers to hide because he doesn't love being the center of attention.

We have yet to see him around cats- but honestly he would most like ignore them or hide from them. After some practice he is doing well on car rides. He sleeps through the night. Would absolutely do great with another dog, who can respect his boundaries.

Murph takes things at a very slow pace, and needs someone who is willing to meet him where he's at and celebrate all of his little victories along the way.
