Knox is all heart, a giant "puppy" overflowing with love and potential! This intelligent boy is eager to learn but needs a patient hand to guide him. While he’s a big, high-energy dog, he's incredibly trainable, just waiting for the right leader.
We're currently focusing on basic manners like "sit," "off," and navigating stairs and doorways politely. We're also teaching him proper house training and boundaries to curb marking. Knox thrives on consistency and patience – qualities his future family must embrace!
Knox needs a substantial energy outlet – think 2-3 hours daily of high-intensity exercise or mentally stimulating activities. Without this, his exuberance can be overwhelming. A large fenced yard is highly recommended for his zoomies!
He's working on crate training, as his separation anxiety leads to barking, clawing, and general distress when left alone. He feels most secure with a person in his sight and needs a family who is home often to help build his confidence.
Knox loves other tolerant dogs, provided his energy is managed. He's gentle with other animals, from chickens to cats, and shows no food or toy aggression. He just needs continued guidance on appropriate play.
Knox will become a truly wonderful companion for an experienced owner who understands the joys and challenges of a high-energy "puppy." If you have leadership to offer, a large fenced yard, plenty of time, and tolerant canine companions, you'll gain an incredibly sweet, affectionate, and loyal friend in Knox!
Knox is from a local impound. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.
To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page.
If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.
