Meet Gertie!
Gertie is a gentle, loving senior pup who’s looking for a peaceful home to enjoy her golden years. Though her eyesight and hearing are limited, she gets around well and enjoys naps, sunshine, and sniffing around the yard. She’s as quiet as can be, no barking, just the occasional sneeze, and loves spending time near her person, especially when it’s mealtime! Gertie needs soft food since she has only a few teeth left, she has full dental with extractions, as well as daily eye drops and supplements to keep her comfortable. She isn’t fully house-trained but does well with regular outdoor breaks or a diaper indoors. She’s made wonderful progress in foster care and has so much love to give. If you have a calm home and a soft spot for senior dogs, she will be your sweetest little companion.

Somerset Cottage Poodle Rescue, established in 2013, is an all volunteer 501c(3) dog rescue funded by your donations. We rescue companion and senior dogs, at risk for euthanasia, from overcrowded shelters and provide them with the medical attention they need. We also redone dogs for owners who can no longer care for them. We do not have a facility so all of our dogs live in foster homes through out the Northern Virginia area until their adoption day. We are proud that we find them perfectly matched forever homes and families. We rescue and find permanent homes for approximately 250 dogs a year.
