My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🎉 Meet Casper — the shy guy with the heart of gold (and the soul of a professional belly-rub enthusiast)! 🎉

Casper is a one-year-old Cattle Dog mix who’s trading in his “crowded roommate lifestyle” (he used to live with 15 other dogs!) for a cozier setup with a human or two who appreciate his charm and cuddles. He was politely “evicted” from his old digs, but honestly — we think it’s the best thing that could’ve happened to him. New chapter, new leash on life! 🐾

Casper is currently working on perfecting his leash skills. Translation: he’s figuring out that leashes aren’t snakes and walks are actually kinda fun. He’s even started going potty on leash — what a star student! 🌟 Once he decides you’re one of the good ones, he’ll roll over and demand belly rubs like a total pro.

This sweet boy can get a little overwhelmed by dogs who are too ‘in your face,’ so he appreciates calm canine friends and people who understand gentle encouragement. Slow, positive introductions help him feel safe and confident. In his foster home, he’s done great with one or two relaxed dogs who respect his space.

Casper will be neutered on Wednesday, November 12, and then he’ll be officially ready for his forever home!💕

If you love a shy-but-silly pup who just needs a little time to come out of his shell (and into your lap), Casper might just be your guy. Once he trusts you, he’ll give you his whole heart — and maybe even let you pick the Netflix show. 💫

More about this rescue

Camp Companion is a 501c3 organization established in 2003.

Based in Rochester MN, the organization is totally driven by volunteers.

Camp Companion is dedicated to providing low-cost spay and neuter services for feral, farm and stray companion animals. The organization is funded solely by donations, fundraisers, grants, and adoption fees. All funds we receive are used for veterinary expenses and the cost of care incurred for the animals waiting for their forever homes.

Through our spay / neuter efforts, we encounter kittens and stray domestic cats that need rescue services and a forever home. We have no shelter, but rely on foster homes to care for these rescued pets. Every animal we offer for adoption is spayed or neutered.
