My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Current Location: Hanover, PA

Hello! My name is Erin! I was named by our 2025 "Name a Transport of Animals" Auction Winner Jatiela Moore!

Erin is pure joy wrapped in soft fur. She is loving, snuggly, friendly with every dog she meets, and delighted by every new person who stops to say hello. She has balanced energy, loves playtime, and settles beautifully once she has had some fun. She is the kind of dog who makes a home feel warm and full of life.

Energy and Personality
Erin is curious, affectionate, and eager to be near her people. She loves fetch, loves toys, and loves being part of whatever you are doing. She is not a fan of long hours alone. She wants a home where she can feel connected and included. She is happy to relax after some play and enjoys a good cuddle.

Training and Behavior
She is house broken and walks well on a leash. She knows sit, come, and no. She is treat and praise motivated. She is a dream to train. She is working on crate training and has slept through the night in her crate, but she is happiest when she can be close to her people.

Social Life
Erin does well with other dogs and has endless patience for even the pushy ones. She would thrive as an only dog or with a playful dog friend. She takes treats gently and shines in a friendly social setting. She has not been around very young children yet. She does jump when excited, but with training this will improve.

Special Traits
She handles bath time like a champ. She loves fetch in the yard. She is gentle when taking treats. She watches everything with bright curiosity. She makes you feel chosen every time she leans in for affection.

Best Home Fit
Erin will thrive with adopters who want an involved companion. A fenced yard would be helpful for fetch and play, though not required. She needs a home where she is not left alone for long stretches and where her training can continue with positive structure. If you want a joyful, devoted dog who brings out the best in your day, Erin is your girl.

MEET AND GREETS

We primarily rely on meet & greets for potential adopters. Approved adopters may meet adoptable animals at the home of the animal's foster, or possibly in the adopter's own home.

More about this rescue

Operation Paws for Homes, Inc. rescues dogs of all breeds and ages from high-kill shelters reducing the numbers being euthanized daily. We provide foster homes where they can get the love and attention needed before finding their forever homes. Our organization provides pet adoption services in Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland, and parts of Southern Pennsylvania. Operation Paws for Homes, a 501(c)(3) organization, is 100% donor funded and could not save these dogs and fulfill their dreams of being united with their forever families, without the dedication of our incredible adopters, fosters, donors and volunteers. Sadly, without our help, all of these adoptable animals would face almost certain euthanasia - usually within days or hours of arriving at the shelter. Each year we take in hundreds of wonderful animals who were left at shelters by no fault of their own.
