My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Winny — A Warrior with a Heart of Gold

Winny’s journey is one of quiet strength and incredible resilience. Rescued locally from the same heartbreaking hoarding case as her brother Morty, Winny arrived in our care in very poor condition — neglected, One of the most heartbreaking signs of her past is her ears, which were crudely cut with scissors. Despite this painful start, Winny has shown nothing but grace, courage, and love.

From Fragile to Flourishing
Thanks to her devoted foster mom, Winny received the warmth, care, and patience she needed to heal — both physically and emotionally. Today, she’s thriving. Her spirit is bright, her tail wags with joy, and she’s ready to embrace the life she’s always deserved.

Playful Spirit, Gentle Soul
Winny loves to play — especially with squeaky toys — and she lights up when it’s time for a walk or a romp in the yard. A fenced-in space would be perfect for her adventures. She’s social and enjoys the company of other dogs, but she’d also be perfectly content as your one-and-only.

Cuddle Queen
When the day winds down, Winny is all about the snuggles. She loves curling up with her humans, especially if it means sharing the bed. She’s a total cuddle bug who will happily keep you company during movie nights or lazy Sunday mornings.

Ready for Her Forever
Winny would thrive in a home with her people and dogs friends as long as she’s surrounded by love. She’s come so far from her difficult beginnings and is now ready for the next chapter — one filled with joy, comfort, and the security of a forever family.

Don’t Miss Out on Winny
This brave girl has overcome so much and is now ready to live the life she’s always deserved. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and playful companion, Winny is your girl.

Apply Today!! Let’s give Winny the happy ending she’s been waiting for. She’s ready to fill your home with love, walks, and lots of squeaky toys!

More about this rescue

Fetching Hearts Rescue is a non-profit 501(c)(3), volunteer run rescue that is dedicated to saving dogs who have been abused, neglected or abandoned and finding loving, caring homes for them.

We rely on a network of foster families so that each dog that we pull into the safety of our rescue is placed in a foster home and is no longer confined to a life in a kennel.

We are committed to helping dogs of all ages, breeds and sizes by partnering with shelters and animal control services right here in Connecticut as well as with several high kill shelters in the South.

We do a full assessment of each dog's temperament and health to ensure that we are able to find the most suitable home for them. Every dog is fully vetted - meaning they are up to date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered, heartworm negative and micro chipped - before being adopted.

The ASPCA estimates that approximately 3.3 million dogs in the United States enter shelters each year, of which approximately 670,000 are euthanized*. Our goal is to advocate for and provide education about the need for spaying and neutering to eliminate what has become an epidemic of unwanted dogs.*
