My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Zella and her littermates were found as strays in Opelika, Alabama. When they arrived at the local shelter, they were very sick puppies—but thankfully, they were in the right place at the right time. The shelter team provided the lifesaving medical care they needed, and because of that, Zella is now fully recovered, thriving, and ready for her forever home.

Our best guess on her breed mix includes hound/beagle, possibly with some lab, boxer, and/or pittie. She’s approaching 5 months old and still under 25 lbs, so we expect her to stay a comfortable medium size once fully grown.

These two adorable girls are as loving as they come and are being fostered together. Zella has a little more energy and independence, but both are incredibly friendly, sociable, and come running the moment you call them.

They’ve done wonderfully with the resident dogs in their foster home and especially love playing with the youngest pup. Toys are still a new concept, but we’re sure they’ll figure out the fun with time. What they do know is how to play, zoom around, and entertain everyone with their goofy energy!

Zella and Zoe are currently working on house and crate training, and they already walk nicely on a leash. They enjoy their outings and are great car riders—just a little nervous when first getting in. And amazingly… they’re quiet pups! (We know, we’re shocked too!)

These two are sweet, social, and ready to find a family who will cherish them both.

Zella is current on vaccinations and flea/tick/heartworm prevention.  She is also spayed and microchipped.  Her adoption fee is $450.

Additional adoption info

Thank you so much for being interested in adopting a puppy, dog, cat or kitten from Worthy Tails Rescue.

Please click on the link below to access the online application. You will need to register in order to complete it. The registration is just an email and password so that you can access the information. You are under absolutely NO obligation to adopt by registering; it is simply for the website’s records. After the application is completed and submitted, your application will be reviewed. Upon submission, please inform your veterinarian and references that we will be contacting them. We will then be in touch with you after the review process is completed. Please be patient with us as all of our volunteers are very busy with many things, including full time jobs, caring for their own families, pets and caring for our foster pets. In addition, we need to be able to reach your references, which can take some time. Therefore, please allow at least a week before expecting to hear something.

More about this rescue

Worthy Tails is a non profit, all-volunteer animal foster and adoption organization. Our mission is to help animals that did not ask to be born, and are often subjected to inhumane conditions and treatment, to find loving homes. The members of our organization believe that any animal, no matter how large or small, young or old, beautiful or "only a face a mother can love" can offer unconditional love and companionship to the right person, couple, or family.
Worthy Tails is not an animal shelter. All animals live in our approved foster homes until permanent, indoor homes can be found.
