My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Current Location: Union Bridge, MD

Sage is a playful, loving, social pup with a balanced energy level and a heart that opens fast. He came from a hoarding case and is discovering the world for the first time, yet he has adjusted with surprising ease. He enjoys playtime, walks, and light stimulation, then settles beautifully when it is time to relax. He loves people and is friendly with other dogs.

Energy and Personality
Sage is cheerful, affectionate, and eager to connect. He play bows, gets the zoomies, and happily follows his people from room to room. He loves being pet and is already showing how bright and curious he is. If you can look past his patchy fur, you will see a wonderful dog who is growing more confident every day.

Training and Behavior
Sage is crate trained and finds comfort in his kennel. He is learning the basics since he never had structure before.
• Uses puppy pads
• Goes potty outside and is transitioning to strictly outdoors
• Learning how to walk on a leash for the first time
• Loves treats, praise, and gentle guidance
• Enjoys chewing on bones and discovering squeaky toys

With food and praise as motivators, he is set up to learn fast and shine with steady training.

Social Life
Sage enjoys other dogs and is curious about making new friends. He is sweet with new people and warms up quickly. Full introductions with dogs are still in progress, but he shows friendly interest and good potential for a dog companion.

Quirks and Special Traits
• Endearing play bows
• Soft zoomies
• Patchy fur growing back
• Gives sweet attention
• Learns fast
• Loves being part of daily life

Best Home Fit
Any loving home. Sage is adaptable and ready to bond with someone who enjoys being part of his growth. He still needs to gain weight and will continue filling in his coat, but his spirit is strong and his personality is gold.

Sage is a super pup who came out of his shell quickly and is ready for a new life filled with kindness, structure, and joy. He will reward his adopter with love, laughter, and a loyal companion for years to come.

MEET AND GREETS

We primarily rely on meet & greets for potential adopters. Approved adopters may meet adoptable animals at the home of the animal's foster, or possibly in the adopter's own home.

More about this rescue

Operation Paws for Homes, Inc. rescues dogs of all breeds and ages from high-kill shelters reducing the numbers being euthanized daily. We provide foster homes where they can get the love and attention needed before finding their forever homes. Our organization provides pet adoption services in Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland, and parts of Southern Pennsylvania. Operation Paws for Homes, a 501(c)(3) organization, is 100% donor funded and could not save these dogs and fulfill their dreams of being united with their forever families, without the dedication of our incredible adopters, fosters, donors and volunteers. Sadly, without our help, all of these adoptable animals would face almost certain euthanasia - usually within days or hours of arriving at the shelter. Each year we take in hundreds of wonderful animals who were left at shelters by no fault of their own.
