Pistachio the Poodle is looking for a loving home! This adorable older gentleman is 14 years old and 12 pounds. He arrived at VPR with a very infected mouth, but after antibiotics and dental surgery, he's feeling much better. Pistachio loves to be held and will melt into your arms. He's a very sweet boy and gets along well with all the dogs at our rescue.
Pistachio is blind, which leads to some vocalization when he needs attention. He enjoys napping in a private pen and may need some guidance finding the door when he's ready to emerge. He's a good eater, loves exploring outside, and looks very cute in his winter sweaters. Pistachio will occasionally mark, but we expect that to lessen now that he's been neutered. He has mature cataracts and a perianal mass, but it doesn’t cause him any issues.
He's up-to-date on vaccinations, neutered, and recently had full blood work.

Additional adoption info
We only arrange meet and greets with pre-approved applicants.
The vast majority of the dogs we take in and post on our social media will be available for adoption at some point, but not everyone is ready to be adopted right away. We first need to get all of our dogs seen by our vet, treat any health issues, and/or schedule any procedures they may need. Once the dog does not need anything else from us medically, we will post them for adoption!

Vintage Pet Rescue is a Rhode Island based 501c3 non-profit. We protect and advocate for homeless senior dogs in need by providing cage-free sanctuary living for all of our rescue's residents, helping unwanted seniors find love in their final years through our adoption program, and increasing public awareness and interest in saving senior pets.
VPR was founded by Kristen and Marc Peralta (who met at an animal shelter in 2013). Their mutual love for senior dogs is the driving force behind our organization where we are committed to rescuing vintage (senior) dogs from shelters and assisting owners who can no longer care for their senior pets.
Kristen, Marc, and their team of volunteers make sure these animals are provided with love, attention, and medical care for the last months or years of their lives. To date, VPR has saved the lives of over 1,000 dogs.
