My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you’re looking for a goofy, affectionate, Velcro pup… Cooper is your guy. This sweet little man has mastered the art of sitting like a human, loves his stuffy toys, and is happiest when he’s pressed up against you for snuggles.

Cooper gets along great with other dogs and would thrive with a buddy to play with. He was a bit scared of a cat he met (zero aggression — just unsure!), so with slow introductions he could likely adjust just fine.

Like many pups his age, Cooper is still working on potty training and learning that his kennel is a safe, comfy place. He’s eager to please and responds well to reassurance and routine — he just needs someone willing to guide him.

What Cooper Loves:
• Stuffy toys
• All the cuddles
• Sitting like a tiny man on furniture
• Other dogs
• Being close to his people

What He’s Learning:
• Potty training
• Kennel confidence
• Building bravery around new things (including cats!)
Cooper is full of love, silliness, and potential. He’s ready for a family who will adore him as much as he’ll adore them — and that’s a lot.

Cooper will be getting neutered on 12/4 and will be available for adoption after that.

Cooper’s adoption fee is $425 plus MN tax which covers his neuter, vaccinations appropriate at the time of adoption, microchip and any additional medical care he may have needed while in the rescue’s care.
We are a foster based rescue, we do not house dogs at a facility. Age and breed are NLR's best guess as we often don't know who or what mom and dad are. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website www.northernlakesrescue.org

Additional adoption info

Northern Lakes Rescue wants to make adopting your next pet the best experience you have in adopting a pet. When you see a animal you are interested, in we encourage you to email us at info@northernlakesrescue.org with what dog you are interested in.

NLR is 100% volunteer run, and we do our best to respond within 48 hours to all email inquiries regarding adoptions.

All adoptions will require an application, home visit, personal and vet references and a meet and greet. Our adoption fees range from $300-425 depending on the dog.
All dogs over 6 months of age will be spay/neutered, vaccinated to age and micro-chipped. Puppies being adopted will require a spay/neuter and vaccine contract.

Finalizing an adoption includes signing a contract and paying the adoption fee.

Go meet their pets

Northern Lakes Rescue is foster based so all dogs are being fostered by amazing volunteers across the state of MN. Because of this, we require all meet and greets to be scheduled after an application is submitted.

Our focus after you apply is to get you scheduled to meet the dog within 3 to 7 days.

More about this rescue

Our Vision is to be a voice for those who are voiceless. We hear them with our hearts and give them a voice. Looking into the eyes of a rescued animal will speak volumes; watching those eyes light up will have an everlasting impact on you and the rescued animals.

We aren’t a typical rescue as we don’t take in dogs and put them in kennels until they’re adopted. All dogs we rescue are placed in loving foster homes that teach them to be the best dog they can be.

Our journey doesn’t end with adoption, either. We are here for you to support you in integrating your new member into your home, cheer new triumphs, and help with struggles.
