DOG TEST: (Good with Dogs) Jerry is a playful pup who seems to like everyone he meets!
CAT TEST: (Good with Cats) Jerry is quite shy but curious around cats. With slow introductions Jerry can learn to love cats!
KID TEST: (Okay with Kids) Jerry has a tendency to jump and might do best with older kids until he learns more manners. HOUSE BROKEN: (Needs Training) Jerry still needs to be potty trained. ENERGY LEVEL: (High) Jerry loves to run around the back yard and always has the zoomies. Jerry enjoys giving everyone he meets big hugs and tons of kisses. This boy would thrive in a home that can take him on long walks and tons of outdoor adventures.
LEASH WALKING: (Needs Training) Jerry would benefit from extra leash training as he tends to jump up and pull. KNOWN COMMANDS: Sit (No) Down (No) Stay (No) Shake (No) Drop (No)

Our shelter is open 7 days a week. (Excluding holidays).
Monday- Friday 8am-5pm
Saturday- Sunday 10am-2pm
We ask that you come visit any time between open and no later than 30 minutes prior to closing. This ensures that staff will have enough time to assist you in meeting one of our great furry friends!

More about this shelter
We are a Municipal Animal Shelter for the City of Lee's Summit. We house animals brought in by Lee's Summit Animal Control Officers and Blue Springs Animal Control Officers.
Animals are also brought to us by owners that can no longer keep the animal or by strays that were impounded for running loose.
When an animal comes in as a stray, it is held for 5 days to give the owner a chance to claim it. If the owner does not claim it, on the 6th day it is put up for adoption or foster. During this 5 day holding period, if a potential adopter would like to adopt the animal, they are welcome to sign up on the adoption list. The names on the adoption list are contacted on the 6th day if no owner has made claim.
If there are no names on the adoption list, then the animal will become first come, first served when available for adoption.
