My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET "GOLDIE" PENDING-- FOSTER TO ADOPT TRIAL

LOCATION: HOUSTON, TEXAS

EMAIL: BigPawsK9FosterHouse@gmail.com

AVAILABLE FOR: FOSTER, FOSTER TO ADOPT/ADOPTION

NAME: "GOLDIE"

DOB: 1/5/25

BREED: GOLDEN RETRIEVER X GREAT PYRENEES

GENDER: FEMALE

SIZE: LARGE

HEALTH: GOOD

Goldie is a young, gentle sweetheart with a heart full of wiggles and warmth. She can be a little skittish at first and still carries some uncertainty, but it’s easy to understand—her brother Casper was her protector on the streets, shielding her from just about everything. Once she had space to work one-on-one and experience the world on her own terms, she began to blossom beautifully.

And don’t let her sweetness fool you—Goldie has a surprisingly impressive bark. The first time I heard it, I was sure it was Casper… until she came around the corner with that big, deep, “don’t mess with me” Pyr bark of hers. She may be learning confidence, but she definitely knows how to sound the part.

Now that she’s blooming and figuring out who she is without relying on her brother, Goldie’s true personality is shining. She’s a total wiggle butt who loves absolutely everyone once she warms up, and she’s ready for a home where she can be the star. She will require a confident, firm but gentle handler.

More about this rescue

Our mission at Big Paws K9 Foster House is to establish a secure and nurturing haven for Anatolian Shepherds, Kangal, Great Pyrenees, Akbash and their mixes rescued from shelters, the streets, or unfortunate circumstances. Our dedicated team ensures a transitional environment either at the facility or within a foster home for these dogs until suitable forever homes can be identified for adoption. Throughout their stay with us, we prioritize the well-being of the dogs by affording them dedicated decompression time, compassionate care, and expert guidance. Our commitment extends to active engagement through structured work/play sessions, allowing us to comprehensively evaluate each dog's unique characteristics.
This thorough evaluation process enables us to provide detailed insights to our fosters, adopters, and our partnering rescue organizations. By offering a nuanced understanding of each dog's temperament, behavior, and needs, we aim to facilitate informed decision-making in placing these dogs into loving and appropriate homes.
Committed to education, we also promote spaying/neutering and work to make affordable vetting accessible within our community, championing responsible pet ownership for all.
