Dog's Name: Babe Axle (AXL1025K9SMD)
Estimated Breed: Chihuahua / Rat Terrier mix
Approximate Age: DOB 10/10/2025
Approximate Weight: 5 lbs
Currently Living at: Foster
Adoption Fee: $500
DOG'S DESCRIPTION: Meet Babe Axle! Axle is a darling little pup with a heart full of joy and a lifetime of love to give! He and his sister Baby Annie were born on October 10, 2025, just days after their mama Alternator arrived safely in her foster home. Alternator was rescued by K-9 Lifesavers from an overcrowded shelter in Johnson City, TN, where she had been surrendered along with many other small dogs after their owner could no longer care for them. Momma is a petite 9-lb chihuahua mix, possibly with a splash of rat terrier or miniature pinscher (pictures included). Axle will be ready for adoption on December 5th, when he turns 8 weeks old. This little guy currently weighs about 4.5 lbs and is expected to grow into a small adult dog, likely 12–15 lbs. He’s healthy, social, and absolutely loves being around people. Whether he’s being held, snuggling in a lap, or bouncing around with puppy enthusiasm, he’s happiest when he’s making a human or doggie friend smile. With the perfect mix of playfulness and laid-back sweetness, Axle is well on his way to becoming a devoted little lapdog. At his young age, he is in his prime for training and socialization too.
If you're looking for a small companion with a huge heart, apply today and become the forever home of Axle’s dreams!
Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.
Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.
Foster Program: Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.
