My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there. I’m Butterball, a Chihuahua–Jack Russell mix with a soft heart and a curious little soul. I may carry the name of one of the brave Snow Buddies, but right now I’m still learning to be brave myself. I’m about 9 months old, and the big, busy world can feel a teensy bit overwhelming, so I take things slow.

Once I get to know you, though? I melt like butter on warm toast. I’m gentle, sweet, and I love celebrating little victories... like taking treats from your hand or snuggling up once I feel safe.

I’m looking for a patient family who can help me grow my confidence and show me that the world is kinder than I think. With love, I know I’ll shine as bright as a pawprint in fresh snow. Adopt me today!

More about this shelter

The Oahu SPCA was founded in April of 2009 and launched its mission, "Every healthy, treatable animal will find a forever home." The overwhelming support of community members was instrumental in helping to establish the first animal shelter in the state of Hawaii with a "no-kill philosophy." On July 18, 2009, 432 animals were relinquished to the Oahu SPCA the Largest Animal Rescue in the history of Hawaii. The Oahu SPCA rescued all 432 animals in 48 hours after the owner of an animal sanctuary in Waianae passes away.
