Best Guess for Age:  1 year as of December 2025       SEX:   Male

Approximate Weight:   30 lbs

Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!

Currently Living at:   DC area foster home

Mel is Looking For:     His forever home! This dark and handsome low-riding boy has got all that awesome young-dog energy and is eager for sniffy trotting walks and all the adventures his new humans can dream up. Quality kibble and a cushy dog bed - yes, those too! But you know what he wants most of all? To know where he belongs, to be safe and loved.

Mel has so much to give to his humans - adoring gazes, love, and loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say? Can you see him trotting down there by your side?

What My Foster Says About Me:   We will update this once he has spent time in foster care

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!

Go meet their pets

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org.
