My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**Please scroll down and read the entire bio before emailing with questions. We will not respond to emails that ask questions already in the bio of the pet or generic questions of 'how old is it?', 'can I get more information?', 'oh it's so cute', etc. You must fill out an application in order to schedule an appointment. Please be prepared to move forward if you are applying.

Here is a link to our online application https://almosthomenm.rescueivey.com/apply/adopt

The application can also be found and downloaded from our main website https://almosthomenm.org/available-for-adoption

Once you have filled out an application please watch your emails to schedule an appointment. Please be aware we do not hold dogs until an appointment to meet them is scheduled.

Approximate DOB 9/21/2025 – About 25 lbs now but may hit 60-100+ lbs as adults

History: Born to a Giant Schnauzer/Great Pyrenees mom and a 3/4 Great Pyrenees/ fourth Australian Shepherd dad another organization was asked to assist in placing the puppies and getting mom spayed. Since they do not do adoptions they reached out to us for assistance in taking in the litter so they all get spayed/neutered and don't add to the over population problem we are currently facing. This litter consists of Billy the Kid, Calamity Jane, and Jesse Evans

Current Status: Jane is an amazingly sweet girl who can be a bit dominant over her brothers. She loves to play and has spurts of play/zoomies but also enjoys checking everything out. She has more of a schnauzer coat than the boys do. These babies love to mosey around checking out the property. They do love to play and wrestle so they will need an outlet as they get older to keep them busy. They are currently using a dog door with no accidents so it would be best to have a dog door so he can go out. He would do best in an active home with a family who can train him and spend a lot of time with him so he can grow up to be the best he can be. These babies will require regular grooming and they will eat a lot so please be aware when getting a large or giant breed that everything is much more expensive.

She has met quite a few other dogs and is fantastic. She has met kids and loves them.

Spayed/neutered, microchipped, and current on all vaccinations

Additional adoption info

If you are interested in adopting from us but have questions please feel free to e-mail us at adopt@almosthomenm.org

In order to start the application process you must send us an e-mail request for an application. We will e-mail it to you as soon as possible. Then just fill it out and send it back via e-mail. Once we receive it then we can schedule an appointment for you to come out and meet the animals.

We are not an open to the public facility with specific hours of operation. We are a foster home and therefore require an application submitted before an appointment can be made and directions given out.

If you would like to adopt from out of state then you must be willing to come out to meet and adopt the pet you are interested in.. We do not ship pets nor will we meet someone somewhere.. We want adopters to come out and spend at least an hour with this pet in their environment before adopting just to ensure there is a connection. We would hate for the adoption to not work and be so far away.

More about this rescue

We are a newly formed rescue in Peralta, NM. We are still very small and currently in process of getting our 501c3 tax exempt status. It is mainly just myself, my two daughters and a small group of volunteers. We only take in animals from shelters who are scheduled to be put down. All animals are housed in my home and on my property. We started this rescue due to the simple fact that there are so many wonderful dogs dying everyday at the shelters because there just isn't enough room.We do not discriminate against any breed. Every dog has the potential to be a great family pet, working dog, or therapy dog- just as every dog has the potential to become a "dangerous dog" due to the simple fact that they all (or most anyway) have teeth and can bite when provoked or trained to obey their owners commands.
We do it for the love of the animals and the need to find forever homes for the ones impounded due to no fault of their own.
