My name is Thomas and I'm around 4 years old. I'm a fun-loving guy and really enjoy the company of other dogs. Like the typical beagles that we are, my foster brothers and I spend hours running and sniffing in the yard to find that elusive rabbit! I do like to run and try to find the critters, so would be best suited to a fenced yard. I've been excellent in the house – I haven’t chewed on anything but the stuffed dog toys, and I haven’t had any accidents in the house, either. Being a beagle, I do have a voice, but mostly when I first go outside – I’m just so excited to be able to run around the yard that I want to let everyone know!
I do have to add that my foster dad has nicknamed me Timid Tommy. Loud or sharp noises and sudden movements do startle me, and foster dad has been working with me on that. I’m slowly but surely getting accustomed to unexpected sounds, and foster dad thinks that a calm, quiet home would be ideal for me.
When I'm outside, I love to run and play with my foster brothers. When it’s time to go inside, though, I like to be around my people and get lots of attention! I'm a big-time snuggler, and lying next to my people is probably my greatest joy in life! I do occasionally play with stuffed toys or chew on hard bones, but I really just want attention as often as I can get it!
Something else we are working on is car rides. Being overly nervous and excited has sometimes led to me getting a little sick when I’m first in the car, but then I settle down nicely and sleep. We've discovered that when I sit next to my person and feel more at ease, things go much better for me. I also have a fear of being crated and being alone, so it would be best to have a companion. I’ve spent time with my foster brothers free roaming and have done well during those times!
If you think I’m the right boy for you, please contact your Midwest BREW adoption counselor.
