Here's what the humans have to say about me:
🐾 Hi there… it’s me, Butterscotch IceCream! 🍦🐶
(A name as sweet as I am, if I do say so myself.)
I’m a petite Chihuahua mix with a big personality, tiny paws, and a heart that just wants to belong to my person. I may be small and short, but trust me—I run the show… in the cutest possible way.
At first, I can be a little shy. I prefer you pretend I’m not there for a minute while I sniff you out (no eye contact, please—I’m a lady!). But once I know you’re safe, I’ll trot right over like we’ve been friends forever.
Before arriving at the shelter, the kind people who found me had dogs of their own—and I did well with them. 🐶 That’s just one more clue that, with proper introductions, I can be a lovely little companion to other respectful pups.
I’m gentle, playful, and very proud of my skills:
🎾 I fetch toys (especially soft ones—just be warned, I will destroy them with joy).
🪑 I know “sit”… especially if snacks are involved.
🍖 I love treats, toys, and a good “eh eh” helps me remember my manners.
🚶♀️ I’m an excellent leash walker and I adore meeting people on my adventures.
🚗 I’m a peaceful little car-rider.
🏡 I’m housetrained and a good girl in the home.
📎 I’m the world’s cutest office assistant—happy to snooze while you work.
I’ve also been living with a cat, and we’re figuring things out together. I’m doing well, but any future adopter should plan on slow, thoughtful introductions to help me feel safe and set everyone up for success.
Sometimes, when I’m left alone, I get a little worried and may whine—I’m just afraid you won’t come back. But with patience and love, I know I can learn to feel secure.
Because I can be a bit protective of my toys and spaces, a home without kids is recommended—I do best with adults who understand my boundaries and help me feel confident.
When the day winds down, you’ll find the real magic of me:
I’ll gently place my chin on your leg, asking for affection (my foster says I am super affectionate)… then melt into your hands as you pet me. I love cuddling on the couch, leaning in close, feeling like I finally belong. I’ll even sleep in my crate if it’s by your bed—just give me a couple minutes to settle.
I’m looking for someone who sees the sweetness beneath my nerves… someone who’ll let me blossom at my own pace. In return, I’ll give you loyalty, laughter, soft snuggles, and a lifetime of butterscotch-flavored joy.
If you think we might be the perfect match…
I’m waiting—tail wagging, chin ready to rest on your leg. ❤️🐾
As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines.
