My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Bailey, the sweetest and friendliest cat, who came to the SPCA as a stray possibly abandoned in a rural area. She loves attention and pets, plus will happily curl up and cuddle with you all night. We're not sure if she's lived with other animals or children before, so slow introductions would be important. She seems like she would get along well with anyone she meets. She would do best in a loving home with people who are ready to play or cuddle at the drop of a pin and are willing to give her all the love and chin scratches she demands (and she will). Bailey seems like she would be a great match for most any home and a wonderful companion.
When she came into the BC SPCA it was noted that Bailey's mouth was swollen and painful looking. It turns out she was suffering from granulomas that seemed to be caused by allergies. She has been treated for the granulomas and has been switched to a hypoallergenic diet which she will need to be on for life. Adopters will need to be prepared to manage her allergies with the proper diet. Ask staff for more information. In order to have a long, healthy, happy life, Bailey needs to be an indoor only cat in order to monitor her allergies.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
