Animal Saints Rescue Society was asked to help with a hoarding situation where several litters of puppies were born in quick succession. Dozens of Shih Tzu were living in a very small apartment when hobby breeding quickly became untenable. It is an honor to help get all of the adults neutered so the breeding stops, as well as ensure that the babies are placed with lifetime families.
Age: 4 months
Breed: Shih Tzu birthdate: 7.28.2025
Weight: approximately 3.12 pounds. She will be approximately 9-10 pounds full grown.
Vaccines and treatments:
Rabies
Bordetella
DHPP, part one and two
Other tests and procedures for the litter:
Heart worm test - negative
Erlichia, Anaplasma, and Lyme test - negative
Fecal test - negative
Additional procedures:
Microchipped
Because Liliana is so young, her spay surgery will need to happen after her adoption at the age of six months. A spay deposit of $300 will be required when the adoption is made official. This deposit will be refunded when we receive the spay certificate from the adopter. The adopter may choose the doctor of their choice and pay for the surgery themselves. Alternatively, a spay voucher for Otterkill Animal Hospital in Maybrook, New York can be provided if you are willing to take her to this clinic for her surgery.
Requested adoption donation fee is only $900. This is to partly cover her veterinary bills and care expenses that our 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue incurred to help her.
Liliana has hair and not fur. She is a brown and white Shih Tzu with the sweetest brown patch on one of her eyes.
PLEASE NOTE: Liliana's hair will grow as it is not fur. She will need professional grooming every 4-6 weeks. Only apply if you understand the additional maintenance and cost these dear hair-not-fur souls need and are willing to commit to life for such care.
Liliana has been so gentle and patient for her baths, haircuts, and nail trims.
Liliana is very focused on human interaction. Even though she loves her littermates, she seeks out the attention of people more. She is curious and adventurous, willing to explore when some of her siblings watch for her cues that all is well. She is sweet, playful, and a joy to be around.
It is ideal for Liliana to be in a home with other small dogs or dog friendly cats around. She would not do well in a home as the only dog, especially if her people are gone all day at work. Families with children are case-by-case.
Liliana will especially thrive in a home that can give her companionship day and night. She’d be okay for a few hours on her own with her siblings if you provided her with puzzles and things to do while you’re away.
Plan on sharing your sofa and bedroom with Ally Meg. She will want to be by your side, no matter where you are and what you are doing.
If you have a very secure fenced-in backyard for running and playing, this is ideal for Liliana. She is going to be a little girl, even full grown. She will need exercise but not miles and miles of daily hiking like a working dog. She is a companion animal in the truest sense of the word. Her goal is to love and be loved.
At Animal Saints Rescue Society, our goal is to keep dogs out of overcapacity animal control facilities and out of a re-homing cycle. We place the dogs we save into lifetime families. With this in mind, we seek families who understand that an adoption is a lifetime commitment. The families who adopt from us believe that love is not a feeling, it is a decision. Some humans still believe it’s okay to try out a dog for a few weeks, a few months, or even a few years — then discard when they get bored or don’t want to deal with emotional or physical ailments. We are looking for the empathetic, kind, and patient humans in this world who view these Animal Saints as family, and they will do whatever it takes to give them what they need.
Will that family be you? We look forward to finding out and receiving your application!
