Meet Huey! This silver fox, er, dog, has been in foster for a few weeks and is excited to make his debut as an Adoptable! Huey comes to us from Chicago Animal Care and Control, and like many dogs from overcrowded shelters, Huey came to us with a bad upper respiratory infection. Thankfully, Huey had a wonderful foster home waiting. Huey convalesced in his first foster home for about four weeks before they had to go out of town. He lived in that home with a couple and another dog. Huey loves dogs, and all people! Huey then moved to a foster with a family with a 7 and 9 year old. His foster mom writes, "Huey is really good with our kids! He seems to understand boundaries and doesn't get too rough."
Because Huey has spent time in a foster home, we know a lot about him! For example, we know that he is housebroken (but may have an accident or two in transition, while learning a new routine). Huey is crate trained, but may take some time to settle. He has been left in his crate for u to 6 hours and did well. He loves to have a frozen peanut butter Kong in his crate, as that will help him relax in there. Huey also walks so well on leash, with all of his fosters saying he is a delight to walk!
The best thing about Huey is how much he loves people. The thing is that he may not realize he is not a lap dog! He is young, so still needs to learn boundaries but he is a very quick learner. His foster mom writes, "I've been jokingly referring to him as The Mayor because he likes to go up and greet everyone we encounter in the neighborhood!"
Overall, Huey is a big, beautiful, cuddly boy. His foster mom says, "Huey is extremely loyal and loving. He loves being with his people and is the best cuddle bug! He enjoys playing with his toys and going on walks. He is very motivated by treats and aims to please. He has mastered 'sit' and would love to become an expert in more skills!"
We hope you will come in and meet him this week!
Huey’s adoption fee is $300. This animal is neutered, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
