My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ADOPTION FEE: $75

Meet Dakota! Dakota is a young, newly neutered boy looking for his forever home. He is curious, sweet, and still figuring out his litter box skills, so he will need a patient adopter who is happy to help guide him while he learns.

To support his progress, keep his litter box in one consistent spot and start him off in a smaller enclosure, gradually increasing his space as his habits improve. You can place some of his droppings in the litter box to help him understand what it is for, and be sure to reward him when he uses the box correctly. Accidents are completely normal at this stage, especially since he is newly neutered and still adjusting both physically and behaviorally.

With time, consistency, and lots of love, Dakota will make a wonderful and rewarding companion.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
