My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Garfield was brought in by his previous owner on December 2, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Garfield! Garfield arrived with his best friend Castiel #873960 and they need to be adopted together! Garfield is very sweet but a little on the shy side, so he may take some extra time to adjust to new faces and places. Because of his timid nature, Garfield isn't a big fan of dogs and would prefer a home where he and Garfield won't have to worry about them. The way to Garfield's heart is through gentle, positive interactions and plenty of patience as he warms up. Once he feels comfortable, Garfield is sure to show off the incredibly sweet side that just needs a bit of coaxing. Just imagine the special bond you'll share by helping Garfield come out of his shell!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
