My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Casper—the friendly dog!

Male
9-10 months old
42 lbs (larger breed)
Good with dogs and cats

Meet Casper the friendly dog! This all around good boy is the best of both worlds. He loves to play, but he also loves a good snuggle on the couch while binge watching your favorite shows... hopefully on your lap! He will defintely keep you on your toes with his goofy antics and all of his adorable derpy moments will keep a smile on your face all the time. He loves playing with his foster siblings so hopefully his new home could have a play mate for him! He also does great playing by himself, especially with stuffies and tennis balls- they are no match for him!

Casper is fully potty trained. He hasn't had a single accident since arriving from Texas early November! He is still a puppy so he's working on his manners with nipping and jumping. He does good with redirecting with a toy. He is also very treat motivated and a fast learner! He's very gentle when being fed a treat. Casper knows sit, is doing great with leash walking, and is learning "wait" and "leave it" along with other basic commands. He hasn't met any kids yet, but his foster parents are positive he would make a great family pet once his manners improve. A home without super young kids would probably be best for him at this current stage. He has done good with cats with proper introduction. He can be a tad extra but he really just wants to say hello and give them a sniff! He also does great in his crate, but might need a treat to motivate him to get in.

His favorite things include:

•Snuggle time

•Squeaker toys

•Tennis balls

•Chewy bones

•Ice cubes

•Meeting new people

Casper can't wait to be your loyal companion! Once you meet him, he will captivate you with his charm! He has an abundance of love to give and just hopes for the same in return.

Our standard adoption fee is $375 if paid by cash or check, or $385 if paid by credit card (which includes a $10 processing fee). This fee covers spay/neuter surgery when age appropriate at one of our participating veterinarians, age-appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative, and microchipping.

In order to be considered for adoption, we require a fully completed application, a phone interview, and a meet-and-greet with your entire family. Please note that submitting an application does not commit you to adopting and does not guarantee approval—it simply allows us to begin the review process.

If you are interested in adopting or would like additional information, please email us at adopt@safehavendogsIL.org to request an application.

Keep in mind that the breed and size listed in each dog's biography are our best educated guesses and are not guaranteed.

Safe Haven Dog Rescue reserves the right to refuse the adoption of any dog or puppy to any applicant for any reason.

More about this rescue

We are a small 501 C3 nonprofit rescue located in Elburn, Illinois. In 2014, Safe Haven Dog Rescue became its own non-profit. We are licensed by the Illinois Agriculture Department.

The majority of our dogs and puppies are pulled from Kill Pounds and Shelters in Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, and Illinois. We also accept local medical cases as often as our finances will allow.

Please take a few moments to read the stories about the dogs and puppies we have available for adoption. We disclose everything we know about the dogs, sometimes we know a lot often we know only that they were strays, thrown away on the side of the road, in the woods, or found in abandoned houses.

While we don’t always know their past we are certain that their future is much brighter.

We hope that you and your family are part of the future…..
