My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Poncherello — better known as Ponch — the cutest little sidekick you could ever ask for! 🐾💙

Ponch came to us as a stray alongside his best buddy, Jon, and these two stole our hearts instantly. We think he might be a Maltese–Cairn Terrier mix, and we estimate he’s about two years old — the perfect age for fun, companionship, and lots of love.

Ponch is very sweet and playful, and he gets along wonderfully with other dogs. He loves affection and is always happy to soak up all the love you’re willing to give. With his soft spirit, scruffy charm, and joyful personality, he warms up quickly and makes everyone around him smile.

Poncherello came to us with severe matting and needed a full buzz cut to remove it. Scroll through his photos and you’ll see what he looks like with longer fur — he’s a fluffy little dream!

If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s ready to start fresh and shower you with love, Ponch is your boy. 💛✨

Come meet him — he’s even cuter in person!

More about this rescue

The mission of the Raise the Bar-N Foundation is to rescue, care for, and provide compassion to abused and neglected animals, educate the community about responsible pet ownership, and provide opportunities to children and adults with disabilities. We strive to give the voiceless a voice.

My husband and I have been rescuing for years. We also do a great deal with the autism/special needs community. We are hoping to save more animals and help build bonds between animals and children with disabilities. My husband is a firefighter and ex-professional hockey player. I am an expert working with children with disabilities, especially autism. I am passionate about giving the voiceless a "voice".
