My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is LILLY and here is some info about me:

PHYSICAL INFO:

  • Breed: Jindo mix

  • Age: approx. 1 year

  • Gender: Female

  • Weight: 23 lbs (10.5 kg)

  • Height: 46 cm (paws to top of my head)

  • Length: 65 cm (head to butt)

  • Current Location: S. KOREA

RESCUE STORY - I was rescued from Ganghwa-gun, a tourist area where many dogs are abandoned. After neighbors reported me as a stray, I was taken to a government-run public shelter, where conditions can be less than ideal. Despite the challenging environment, I adjusted as well as any young dog could; showing a naturally gentle, good-natured temperament and a willingness to share food and space with the other dogs. I remained a kind soul despite the stresses of shelter life. I am grateful to have been taken into care by Doremi Rescue, where I receive much better care and can stay safe and loved while I await my forever home in Canada.

TEMPERAMENT – In true rescue/Jindo fashion, I can be a little shy at first. When I first came into Doremi's care, I took about one week to get comfortable and start showing my true sweet, affectionate side. I hope to find adopters who are willing to give me a good amount of time to adjust to my new home and humans - I absolutely promise it will be worth the wait... once I'm comfortable I am sooo sweet and loving with a bright and friendly personality (with humans and doggos!). Once comfortable, I really enjoy playing and interacting with other dogs and am friendly and affectionate with trusted humans. I may be shy with meeting strangers, but I'm sure I will build confidence with time. I am not an overly vocal gal, although I may bark when I'm excited (hehe) or if strangers are approaching.

ENERGY LEVEL – Medium! I am a moderate energy pup; remember I'm still just a young gal! I would love daily mental and physical activity in order to be truly satisfied. Once I've had my daily exercise, I will be happy to cuddle and snooze.

GETS ALONG WITH:

  • Kids – Unknown. I think due to my shyness, I might prefer a calm, adult-only home at the start while I get comfy.

  • Dogs – Yes! I’m good with other dogs—I am social, playful, and do well in my current multi-dog environment.

  • Cats – Yes. Check out my video when I met a cat on my walk (NOTE: this was an outdoor, neutral cat, who I showed no reaction to. I haven't met any indoor cats yet). We can request a cat-test video if required for my adoption!

PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:

  • Leash skills – I’m pretty good on a leash (video, video 2), although I can be a bit tense in unfamiliar areas. I am hoping my adopter will help me gain confidence on leash :)

  • House trained – Although I’ve spent a long time in a shelter environment, my rescuers say I am a clean gal who absolutely prefers to potty outside. They believe I’ll adjust well once I’m in a home. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me officially learn housetraining in my new home!

  • Crate trained - Yes! I may be a bit stressed about going back into a crate after traveling from Korea to Canada, but with continued positive exposure to my crate in my forever home, I'm sure I will be able to continue successful crate training.

Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.

HEALTH NOTES:

  • I am spayed (Oct 30, 2025), vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.

  • I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying to Canada.

  • I will have dental cleaning, if necessary, before flying to Canada.

    • NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.

ADOPTION FEE:

  • My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD ($750.00 + GST & PST) including applicable taxes, which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.
