My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is MAPLE and here is some info about me:

PHYSICAL INFO:

  • Breed: Jindo/Terrier mix (best guess, really!)

  • Age: approx. 1 year

  • Gender: Female

  • Weight: 16.5 lbs (7.5 kg)

  • Height: 44 cm (paws to top of my head)

  • Length: 61 cm (head to butt)

  • Current Location: S. KOREA

RESCUE STORY - I was rescued on November 17, 2025, from a severely neglected property in Pocheon, Korea. Inside the home, approximately 14 cats had been abandoned; many had already passed away or fled. Outdoors, three dogs—including myself—were tied to extremely short one-meter ropes, unable even to sit
comfortably. One of the dogs was pregnant. The entire area was covered in waste, leaving all us
animals living in unbearable and unsanitary conditions. Despite this environment, my rescuers say I showed a
gentle and calm demeanor from the moment I was rescued. After arriving at Doremi Rescue, I
adjusted quickly, welcomed human contact, and displayed steady emotional stability. Truly, my resilience is a miracle! I am now healthy, fully vetted, and ready to find my forever family.

TEMPERAMENT – I am described as a quiet, sweet, and easygoing dog with excellent social skills. I adapt pretty smoothly to new enviornments and remain calm, gentle, and well-mannered. I'm comfortable and very affectionate with women, however I can be a bit slower to approach men at first (although I don't show any big fear-based reactions). I am calm, polite, and relaxed when meeting new people (albeit a bit shy) and I am cooperative for grooming, baths, and vet care. I'm not an overly "barky" gal and I am dog and cat-friendly too! Truly, I'm such a peach and I deserve a loving home- I know I will flouruish with a loving family!

ENERGY LEVEL – Medium/Low! I have a very "happy medium" level of energy - I am happy to go for a calm walk and will play a bit, but after that I'm more than happy to curl up and have a nap.

GETS ALONG WITH:

  • Kids – Unknown. I haven't had the opportunity to meet any kiddos yet.

  • Dogs – Yes! I am neutral, friendly, and so far have appeared non-reactive when meeting other dogs. I'm calm and tolerant of small dogs and puppies too.

  • Cats – I think so! My rescuers describe me as having a "gentle curiosity" towards cats- I don't ignore them but I don't chase them either. I'm sure I could live peacefully with a dog-savvy kitty. **A cat-test video can be requested if my adopter has a cat in the home**

PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:

  • Leash skills – I’m pretty good on a leash and walk nicely without pulling.

  • House trained – Considering my rescue story, it's pretty surprising how quickly I have taken to house-training! I think I'm just a clean gal who prefers to do my business outside. My rescuers believe I’ll adjust well once I’m in a home. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me officially learn housetraining in my new home!

  • Crate trained - Yes! I may be a bit stressed about going back into a crate after traveling from Korea to Canada, but with continued positive exposure to my crate in my forever home, I'm sure I will be able to continue successful crate training.

Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.

HEALTH NOTES:

  • I am spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.

  • I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying to Canada.

  • I will have dental cleaning, if necessary, before flying to Canada.

    • NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.

ADOPTION FEE:

  • My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD ($750.00 + GST & PST) including applicable taxes, which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.
