My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐾 Meet Riley — Your Future Shadow, Snuggle Buddy, and Heart-Melter 🐾

Riley is a sweet, gentle Cavalier with a heart as soft as his silky ears. This loving boy wants nothing more than to be right by his person’s side—truly, his happiest place is touching his human. If you're looking for a loyal shadow who melts into your lap and gives the softest looks of love, Riley might be your perfect match.

Riley came to rescue as what we believe was a breeder release. He was given to someone without other dogs, but he was simply too shy to thrive there. Since moving into a foster home with other dogs, he has blossomed. Their presence brings out a relaxed, more confident Riley—he really looks to other dogs for guidance—so a quiet home with another dog (or dogs) and someone home often is a must for him.

✨ Riley’s Best Qualities:
• Exceptionally sweet, gentle, and affectionate
• Loves cuddling on the couch or snuggling in bed
• Great with other dogs and likely good with cats
• Learns quickly and already does stairs
• Walks nicely on a leash
• A true Velcro dog who just wants to be with his person

Riley is not a fan of kennels or being shut away behind doors—given his past, where he arrived with urine staining that suggests long hours in a small kennel, it's understandable. He thrives when he can be close to you and part of the family’s daily flow.

He is still working on his potty training and currently wears a belly band indoors, but with patience, routine, and another confident dog to follow, he will continue making progress.

Riley will be neutered and have his teeth cleaned on Wednesday, 12/10, and should be ready to go home by Sunday.

If you’re home often, have another dog, and want a forever snuggle companion, Riley would love to meet you.

More about this rescue

Camp Companion is a 501c3 organization established in 2003.

Based in Rochester MN, the organization is totally driven by volunteers.

Camp Companion is dedicated to providing low-cost spay and neuter services for feral, farm and stray companion animals. The organization is funded solely by donations, fundraisers, grants, and adoption fees. All funds we receive are used for veterinary expenses and the cost of care incurred for the animals waiting for their forever homes.

Through our spay / neuter efforts, we encounter kittens and stray domestic cats that need rescue services and a forever home. We have no shelter, but rely on foster homes to care for these rescued pets. Every animal we offer for adoption is spayed or neutered.
