BEATRICE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Beatrice Best Guess for Breed: Terrier mix - chihuahua in there somewhere
Best Guess for Age: 1 year 9 months as of November 2025 SEX: Female
Approximate Weight: 25 lbs
Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!
Currently Living at: DC area foster home
Special adoption considerations: Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think Beatrice would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure she can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes.
Beatrice is Looking For: Her forever home! This sweetie is a sato from Puerto Rico. She did an amazing job raising her seven puppies - Baby Mags, Baby Nell, Baby Isa, Baby Piza, Baby Marco, Baby Amy, Baby Drake & Baby Huddy - and they all went off to get their forever homes.
Beatrice is now ready to lavish all that love and affection upon her new humans. She's a young girl and is eager for long sniffy walks, romps, and all the adventures they can dream up. And snuggles! And a cushy dog bed and quality kibble! Most of all, though, she wants to know she's safe and loved for all her days. What do you say? Is this lovng, loyal little pup the one you see by your side?
What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once she has spent time in foster care.
Heartworm information: Beatrice is a truly Lucky Dog. She tested positive for heartworms, but landed in a place where heartworm treatment is provided! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment.
We are happy to discuss where in the treatment process this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog
Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.
