Medical Needs: Fiyero is scheduled to be neutered on December 17th at BVSPCA in Dover, he will also receive his rabies shot on this day. Keeping this appointment is a condition of adoption. A required $75 check must be submitted by adopter, which Grass Roots Rescue will hold and then destroy once neuter is verified.
Housebroken: Yes.
Crate trained: Fiyero doesn’t mind his crate. He eats in his crate and will go in for treats. He will sing to you if he thinks he is missing something but settles quickly.
Good in the car: He doesn’t mind the car, he’s actually a great passenger and will lay down quietly. He occasionally needs a boost jumping into the car. On longer rides Fiyero will get a bit carsick. When he was distracted by pets or an open window he did not get sick.
Good on a leash: Everyday is a step in the right direction. Fiyero walks well on a leash, he currently has a prong collar for walks.
Energy level: Normal puppy energy - lightning speed one moment and sleeping the next. Fiyero’s size will throw you off he looks like a full grown dog but he’s still got the puppy energy.
Need a fenced in yard: No. If you do not have a fence Fiyero would love to take you on several walks throughout the day to get that energy out!
Dog Friendly: Yes, he is currently fostered with other dogs. They get along well and play together.
If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No, Fiyero would not need another dog in the home.
Cat Friendly? Yes, original owner had cats. There were no issues. With proper introductions they should get along fine.
Kid Friendly: Yes! Fiyero loves kids.
If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? 5, with supervision. Please keep in mind Fiyero is a LARGE PUPPY! He loves all people no matter their size but is still learning not to jump and chew fingers, he will need to be taught hands and toes are not toys. Teaching him and reinforcing not to jump will be important as he continues to grow.
Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them?
Fiyero is a prince among dogs. He is well tempered and a great snuggler. He just wants to be your shadow and see what you are doing at all times. He doesn’t love toys, play time consists of puzzle toys and training. Fiyero has the best face, those big brown eyes tell you everything he is thinking. He is still a puppy and will mouth you, take your sock and run and generally get into mischief, it just looks different because of his size. Don’t let his size scare you, this boy loves a good snuggle and is an amazing weighted blanket for naps!
