This helps Bastets Cat Sanctuary Inc with pet care costs.
Cairo and Badr are bonded Egyptian Mau mix brothers who have already been through more than any cat should. They were heartbreakingly abandoned at a pet hotel by their former owner and, through no fault of their own, found safety in a private foster home where they have been cared for for the past year and a half.
Their bond is deep and undeniable. When Badr needed treatment for a urinary tract infection, he stayed in my home to receive proper care—and Cairo cried for him while they were apart. That says everything about how closely these two are connected. They bring each other comfort, confidence, and companionship, and they must be adopted together.
Both boys are affectionate, sensitive, and loyal once they feel safe. They would thrive in a calm, patient home that understands the importance of keeping bonded cats together and giving them the stability they deserve after such a difficult start.
Because they are a bonded pair, their adoption fee has been reduced in the hopes of keeping them together and helping them find the loving home they’ve been waiting for.
If you’re ready to open your heart and home to two devoted companions who will repay your kindness tenfold, Cairo and Badr are waiting.
All of our cats for adoption are sterilized, fully vaccinated, treated for fleas/worms, are negative for FIV/FELV, have a registered microchip, and come with their travel crate. Adoptions are on a cost-recovery basis and are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Potential adopters for our Persian cats need to have prior Persian cat experience as they need to be well cared for. Grooming, dental, and veterinarian exams are done once a year, and a good quality brand of cat food such as Royal Canin, Hills Science Diet, or Purina Pro plan is the upper tier level with a black label.
We are a rescue and get what we get in terms of cats in need of a home. In no way do we work with breeders or buy the cats from the Friday markets so we can put them up for adoption as a rescue.

Native Mau Cats of Egypt are the oldest known descendants of Egyptian domesticated cats (which have provided a partial foundation for the recent Egyptian Mau cat breed), and they are one of only a few naturally occurring, small, spotted cats in the world. Adoptions are on a cost-recovery basis and by an approved application. NVEcats aims to increase education in Egypt and around the world about these magnificent and intelligent cats.
Cats and kittens are not adopted out on a “first-come, first-serve” basis. We choose to match our applicants and cats based on what we deem as best suited for that particular cat or kitten.
