My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

anta 🖤

Named after Vanta Black — the deepest, richest shade — and just as effortlessly cool.

Vanta is a sleek black beauty with a personality that’s equal parts friendly and lowkey. She’s not loud about it. She doesn’t need to be. She just quietly wins you over.

She’s super friendly and easy to be around. Walk up to her? She’s happy to say hi. Sit down nearby? She’ll vibe right along with you. She has that calm, grounded presence that makes a room feel softer just by being in it.

Vanta isn’t dramatic. She isn’t high-maintenance. She’s the kind of cat who just gets it. She’ll hang out, accept pets, maybe give you a slow blink, and settle in like she’s been part of your life forever.

If you’re looking for a beautiful, chill, friendly companion who radiates peaceful energy, Vanta is ready to bring that deep, velvety magic into your home. 🖤✨An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $200.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice.
Cats and kittens are minimum donation $50.00

More about this shelter

At DeKalb Humane Society, we are passionate about finding forever homes for the pets in our care. Whether they are cats, dogs, or other furry friends, our mission is to provide them with a loving and nurturing environment.

We also believe in the importance of education about responsible pet ownership. We strive to educate our community about pet welfare, the benefits of spaying/neutering, and the prevention of animal abuse and neglect.

By adopting a pet from us, you are not only gaining a lifetime companion, but you are also contributing to our cause and helping us raise awareness. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these innocent animals.

The DeKalb Humane Society filed for our Certificate of Incorporation on December 23, 1975 and we were granted 501(c)3 status in March of 1976. We are committed to being a no-kill shelter and serving the DeKalb County area.
