Their adoption process

We are passionate about pairing animals in need with loving families who would best suit their individual needs. NOTE: You do not have to apply for a specific animal on your application. You can submit it as a "pre-application" for a certain size, age or breed of animal.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
    1. Fill out an application at the sanctuary or www.secondchanceas.org/adopt
(Inquiries on online listings don't constitute an application)
  2. Interview
    1. We will call your veterinarian and personal references. We'll also call you if we have questions or need more information.
  3. Approve Application
    1. If the animal you originally apply for is adopted or would fit in a different home, you may still be approved to adopt a different animal.
  4. Meet the Pet
    1. This may be done before applying. Once approved and ready to take your new friend home, you'll sign an adoption contract.
